About Michael Crane 

​

Michael has over 30 years of teaching experience and provides golf lessons in Oakville, Mississauga, and the Greater Toronto Area. Before becoming the Director of Instruction at Vic Hadfield's Golf & Learning Centre, he was most recently at Glen Abbey (2012-2020), one of Canada’s most famous golf courses, host to 30 Canadian Open Championships.

Before Glen Abbey, Michael was based at Lionhead Golf & Country Club from 2008 to 2011, where he privately operated his academy and oversaw junior camps, ladies’ clinics, golf schools, leagues, and private and group lessons. 

 

From 1999 to 2008, he served as executive director of golf for the Academies at Golf Town, assembling a team of more than 40 Canadian PGA professionals across 35 stores. Responsible for developing the company’s teaching philosophy. In what became a multi-million dollar Academy operation. Recruited, trained, and managed all Canadian PGA instructors nationwide and travelled the world researching state-of-the-art simulators, launch monitors, and teaching software while integrating a club fitting certification program for all staff. At the time, Golf Town was the go-to destination for golf instruction and expert club fitting. 

  

Having apprenticed at The Board of Trade Golf & Country Club, he entered the golf business at 16, started a full-time teaching career at Lionhead in 1995, and moved to Glen Abbey in 1997. Premiere facilities to establish a foundation for his teaching philosophy while working with some of Canada’s most accomplished NCAA players—very talented athletes who went on to play the Canadian and Nationwide Tours and several PGA Tour events. 

 

As a dad, he mentored his son, Damon, a 13-time CJGA Team Canada member and a 3-time member of the U.S. World Cup International squad. One of the youngest competitors at 14 to qualify for the Canadian Amateur, accumulating numerous tournament victories, a low score of 65, and 3 hole-in-ones.

A Class A Member of the Canadian PGA for over 25 years and a TEACHING SPECIALIST with career highlights including:
